Open Workshop on New String Quartet, Thursday 11 December

On Thursday 11 December, 1.30-4pm, The Rhythm Method string quartet will host an open workshop at South Oxford Space's Garden Studio, New York, on Hannah's latest string quartet hounded earth. The piece is inspired by Wangechi Mutu's short film The End of carrying All. All four instruments are prepared with dreadlock cuffs (afro hair accessories), building upon Hannah's recent research focus on creating 'creolized sound'. The phrase 'hounded earth' comes from Édouard Glissant's Poetics of Relation. The piece will be premiered in 2026, and was supported by the New York State Council on the Arts.
