On its release in June, Hannah's debut portrait album shouting forever into the receiver with NMC Recordings was awarded five stars by BBC Music Magazine, with Freya Parr writing, “this collection may be her finest showcase yet.” In The Wire, Julian Cowley described it as a "boldly uncompromising and revelatory programme." The album entered the Official Specialist Classical Chart at Number 7, and was also selected as one of Bandcamp’s Best Contemporary Classical Albums in July. It was featured in Gramophone Magazine’s Top 5 Classical Releases, where James McCarthy said, “Hannah Kendall truly creates worlds of sound with her music… [It] grabs you and draws you in, and often has something important to say about society.” In the September issue of Gramophone, John Fallas described the album as a “complex, dense, but never less than compelling imbrication of idea and sound in this important body of work.”
